My Dear Friend,

When I was a kid my Mom used to hand sew prairie dresses with patterns from the Victorian age. My favorite one was a kind of Kate Greenaway red velvet dress with a calico pinafore and matching bonnet. The velvet was also lined with the calico inside. I was so sad to out grow this. As a teen the only way to find gothic lolita fashion was to wear black victorian mourning dresses, add lace and "lolitacise" 50's doll type dresses, and seek out certain gunne sax 70's dresses from Mormon thrift stores. This is why now I still embrace "couture" lolita looks that ladies have pieced together, even though I do love the Tokyo brands, I'm not a purist. Read More…
